This extension allows you to import and export your magento URL Rewrites data. See Screenshot of example import_bulk_url_rewrites_simple.csv for a more details on imports and this extension also supports import/export of all magento URL rewrite data such as (store_id,category_id,product_id,is_system,options etc). This extension will import/export data in CSV format or Excel Workbook Sheet (standard XLS).
Features
- Great extension to import / export 301 permanent redirects. Some general uses include fixing 404 errors from google webmaster tools by redirecting to valid urls. Also great for moving 301 permanent redirects from one install to another
- Can export URLrewrites with Product SKU vs Product ID. Great for when transfering between installs with the same products and mismatched product ids.
- Ability to export just custom added 301 permanent redirects
- Can Optionally update existing URL rewrites with new target paths
- Can import and export (and download) files via magento admin/browser. No need for FTP access

The whole Magento url rewriting can be a bit confusing, but after doing some export and then import tests and with much gratitude for the help from the extension's creator I was able to bulk import all my categories and CMS pages from an old OSCommerce site. Scott helped me thru the install / config process via online chat since I'm somewhat of a newb. But bottom line is this thing WORKED PERFECT!!! Simple module that does just what you need. I am working with Google Webmaster Tools and needed to export a redirects but the problem was, I had over 5,000 in total. This module, once it was installed, was so easy to use. You simply run the export feature and that's it. I was able to download all the links as a csv file. Plus Scott @ the company was a huge help. But we own several from this developer.
Since Magento crates endless spaghetti out of url rewrites, we need to frequently dump/refresh the index.
There are tons of videos online that tell you how to clear and recreate the url-rewrite index. But we have thousands of custom urls also. How does one preserve those?
Easy with this tool! Export all url rewrites to csv or xml, run a system re-index. Then upload only the custom re-writes.
It's part of our stand routine maintenance to keep magento fast and lean.
We currently use 1.9 but this also worked for us on 1.7 and -1.8
